God: We believe in one God who is the creator and ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons (the Trinity): the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God (Genesis 1, 3:22, Psalm 90:2, Matthew 28:19, 1 Peter 1:2, 2 Corinthians 13:14).
Jesus: We believe that Jesus is the Son of God and co-equal with the Father. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings. Jesus offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He took the full wrath of God against our sin and paid our penalty in full. He rose three days later conquering sin and death. He ascended to the Father’s right hand in Heaven and will return again to restore His creation, reward His people, and judge the world (Matthew 1:22-23, Isaiah 9:6, John 1:1-20, 14:10-30, Hebrews 1, 4:14-15, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Romans 1:1-7, Acts 1:9-11, 1 Timothy 6:14-15, Titus 2:13).
The Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son. He is present in the world to convict people of their sin and to open people’s minds and hearts to the Gospel. He lives in every Christian from the moment of conversion. He provides every believer with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in following God. He also distributes spiritual gifts to every believer for the building up of the Church and the spread of the Gospel. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily (2 Corinthians 3:17, John 14:16-17, 16:7-13, Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16, Ephesians 1:13, Galatians 5:25, Ephesians 5:18).
The Bible: We believe that the Bible is God’s Word. It was written by human authors through the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. While containing many books, it tells one grand story of God’s activity and plan to restore His creation to its original design. The hero of the Bible is God and the story climaxes in Jesus’ death on the cross and His resurrection. The Bible is the supreme source of truth for Christian belief and practice. Because it is inspired by God, it is without error in its original manuscripts. We are committed to the study and application of the Bible to our everyday lives (2 Timothy 1:13, 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20-21, Psalm 12:6, 119, Proverbs 30:5).
Human Beings: People are made in the image of God and are the supreme object of God’s creation. Every human being possesses dignity and is worthy of respect and love. Man was created to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. However, man sinned, thereby severing fellowship with God, incurring God’s wrath, and introducing sin’s curse and consequences to the world. Every person is born with a sin nature and is entirely incapable of pleasing God and enjoying fellowship with Him apart from a supernatural work of God in the heart. We rebel against God and are separated from Him because He is holy. We are completely lost and without hope apart from God’s grace and mercy (Genesis 1:27, Psalm 8:3-6, Isaiah 53:6, Romans 3:23, Isaiah 59:1-2, Ephesians 2:1-5, 1 Corinthians 2:14-16).
Salvation: We believe that Jesus died as a substitute for us, taking the full wrath of God against our sin. He rose three days later conquering sin and death. Anyone who repents of their sin and puts their faith in Jesus will be saved from their sin and enjoy a never ending relationship with God. Salvation is solely by God’s grace and not through human effort (Ephesians 2:1-10, John 1:12-13, 3:16-17, Romans 3:21-28, 5:1, 8:16, Acts 2:36, 4:10-12).
The Future: We believe in the future, bodily and imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in the resurrection of the just to reward and everlasting life in heaven and in the resurrection of the unjust to judgment and eternal punishment in hell (Revelation 20-22, Luke 16:19-28, Matthew 25:41-46, John 14:17, 2 Corinthians 5:10, Titus 2:11-13, Romans 6:23, 1 Corinthians 2:7-9).
The Church: We believe in the universal church made up of all believers throughout history. We believe every Christian is called to be a part of a local church which joins together for worship, fellowship and mission. Christ is the head of the church, which functions under the guidance of qualified leaders. Every individual Christian is commanded to exercise his or her gifts, to promote unity in the Body and to practice Christ-like love towards one another (1 Cor 12 & 13, Acts 2, Gal 1:1, John 17, Hebrews 10:24-25, 1 Cor 11:18-20).
Baptism and Communion: We believe that the Lord Jesus has committed two ordinances to the local church, baptism and communion. Christian baptism is the immersion of the believer into water as a public sign of identification with Jesus and His Church. Baptism should accompany faith and repentance as part of someone’s response to hearing the Gospel. Communion was instituted by Jesus in order to remember His death (Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 6:3-5, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).
