God is Never Doing Only One Thing
The story of the conversion of Cornelius in chapters 10-11 is the longest one in Acts. This is most likely due to the fact that this is one of the most important stories in the book and in all of Scripture. Sinclair Ferguson said, “God is never doing only one thing.” In chapter 10, we see God orchestrating events to send Peter to preach the Gospel to a Gentile named Cornelius. Then, in chapter 11, we learn that this story is part of the grander purposes of God to bring the Gentiles into the people of God alongside the Jews. Listen/watch to understand the food laws in the Old Testament, why eating bacon can be an act of celebration today, and how we can participate in the grand purposes of God rather than stand against them or on the sidelines.
