Where A Story Ends Really Matters

Where a story ends often reveals what mattered most all along. David’s story fittingly ends not on a battlefield or in a palace but at an altar. In this sermon, we wrap up our series on the life of David and examine the final scene of his story in 2 Samuel. It’s not the tidiest ending as it causes us to wrestle with divine mysteries but it shows us what the story of David has been about all along. This sermon challenges us in our self-reliance, helps us wrestle with the complex issue of evil and God’s sovereignty, calls us to offer God the best of what we have, and points us forward to the coming of Jesus Christ.
