The Importance of Friendship

This week in our series on the life of David we look at his remarkable friendship with Jonathan, one of the most powerful friendships in the Bible. Their covenant loyalty not only sustained David through fear and danger but also pointed beyond itself to God’s covenant love for us in Christ. In their story we see the marks of true friendship—intentionality, protection, and perseverance—and how these reflect the way God befriends us. The deeper we treasure God’s friendship, the more we are equipped to be faithful friends who strengthen, protect, and encourage others.
